Product Description
The Sony UBP-X700/M 4K Blu-ray player was named the “best budget 4K Blu-ray player of 2021. If your main concern is the video quality of your Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, you’ll want to take a hard look.
It delivers a sharp 4K picture and features the deep color palette that Sony 4K TVs are known for. The two main differences between it and the Sony UBP-X800M2 are: (1) size — this player is more compact, and (2) wireless tunes — you won’t find multi-room audio or Bluetooth® here. (But you can still play pretty much any music disc or digital file on a connected USB drive.) The Sony UBP-X700/M is ready for Ultra HD Blu-ray discs with HDR (High Dynamic Range). These discs offer the absolute highest level of picture detail available. HDR allows compatible TVs to display extremely bright and dark black picture content together within the same image.
And this player supports the HDR10 format, but also the more sophisticated Dolby Vision™ format via a firmware upgrade. Dolby Vision can adjust brightness and color levels on a scene-by-scene basis. In the right director’s hands, it can be mesmerizing.
The Sony UBP-X700/M supports all the top movie sound formats, too. You can send three-dimensional audio formats like Dolby Atmos or DTS:X to a compatible receiver via HDMI. This gives you a home theater sound experience that’s worthy of the super-crisp images you’ll see on your screen.
Sony Blu-ray players usually offer a good variety of streaming video services. And the Sony UBP-X700/M even offers 4K streaming options, so you can get a better picture from Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. Built-in Wi-Fi makes it easy to connect to your network. (We recommend having an internet speed of 20Mbps or faster for 4K streaming.)
