Product Description
Clarus MkII CCPC Phono cables are designed to connect your turntable and tonearm to a separate phono stage or the phono input of your preamp. Phono cables are particularly important audio cables because the low-level output from the phono cartridge is very fragile. Clarus Aqua and Crimson phono cables are a combination of a single-ended pair with a 14AWG silver-plated PCCC ground cable.
Aqua’s double shielding and Crimson’s triple shielding protects the fragile phono signal while the ground cable prevents ground loops. When connected, this ground wire puts the turntable and the amplifier on the same ground potential. If a turntable is not grounded, a small difference in ground potential will cause a ground loop which could result in a 60-cycle alternating current to pass along your audio cables. Since the phono stage input is very sensitive, you will hear an audible 60-cycle hum with the phono input selected. Clarus phono cables provide a clean pathway from turntable to preamp.
